Andrew J. Hattabaugh

M, b. circa 1770, d. 1835
Per Bio Memoirs of Greene Co., Andrew was a native of Virginia who came to Greene Co. in a very early day. He moved to Cass Township, Greene County, Indiana around 1826 and took up government land, entering in all over 400 acres in Section 16. He was a successful farmer and also operated a flatboat. He died as a result of an accident on a boat while down the Missisippi River.

According to the Bio Memoirs, p.413, Andrew's grandson, Andrew Jackson Hattabaugh, liked to talk about his grandfather, Andrew, who was a soldier in the Revolutionary War. Grandson Andrew had often seen the overcoat and flintlock musket his grandfather used in the Revolution.
Andrew was born circa 1770 at Virginia. Date of birth from 1830 Census (between 1870 & 1880) but must have been very close to 1770 if Andrew served in Revolution. Place from Bio Memoirs, p.411.1 Andrew married Druscilla [--?--] Hattabaugh in 1812?.2

Andrew was listed as the head of household in the 50-60 age group in the 1830 Census at Greene County, Indiana.
