Carl apparently married Goldie Fox Bartine sometime after 1938. At that time she apparently had at least two children, Carol W and Carol Anne from a previous marriage. Goldie is buried in the same grave as Carl Glenn McKinley.6

Carl was listed as the head of household in the 1940 Census in Mount Pleasant, Henry County, Iowa. He was 47, born in Iowa, and listed as a manager of a retail grocery. Inc;uded in the household were his wife, Goldie (38, IA); a son, Keith (17, IA); and Errol (8, IL) and Carol (2, IA) Bartine, apparently the children of his wife, Goldie Bartine.7

Carl died in 1966 in Iowa.8 He was buried in the Glendale Cemetery at Des Moines, Polk County, Iowa.8

However, this seems to be obviously contradictory to the 1920 Census in which Carl, age 24, was single and living in his Father's household. Pending further information, it is assumed that the marriage to Sylvia took place soon after the census and the child was born later the same year.
