George Wightman

George was a tailor who probably served his apprenticeship in England. Per Mary. George Wightman was born on 4 November 1632 in Burton-Upon-Tr., Staffordshire, England.1
George married Elizabeth Updyke circa 1663. Mary Whitman's Wightman Genealogy says he married about 1663, probably in King's Province (later called Kingstowne)..2 George made a will on 26 April 1716 at Quidnessett (N Kingstown), Washington Co., Rhode Island.. The will and a subsequent codicil contained provisions for his sons Daniel, George, John, Samuel, Valentine, and Daniel; and daughters Elizabeth Huling, Aylice Weight, and Sarah Peterson; as well as several grandchildren. The will was presented for probate on 2 February 1722.3
George died in 1721 in Quidnessett (N Kingstown), Washington Co., Rhode Island. Mary Whittman's Wightman Genealogy says he died between Jan 25 and 1 Feb 1721/22 at Quidnessett..2

Per Mary Whitman's Wightman Genealogy, Elizabeth was the daughter of Sieur Gysbert and Catherine (Smith) op d(en) dyck (Updyke). Elizabeth Updyke was born circa 1644.1 She was baptized on 27 July 1644 in New Amsterdam.2
