Miles was listed as the head of household in the 1910 Census in Belleville Township, Chautauqua County, Kansas. He was 27, born in Kansas, and listed as a farmer. Included in the household were his wife, Ester (22, NEB) and daughter, Etha (1, KS.)⁵

Miles registered for the draft on 12 September 1918 at Reno County, Kansas. At the time he was living at 1128 E. 10th St., Hutchinson KS and was working as an Asst. Bookkeeper at the Soda Ash Co. He was short, slender, and had blue eyes and brown hair.³

Miles died after a 10 days illness on 28 December 1934 in Amarillo, Potter County, Texas, at age 52. Funeral services were held at Johnson Funeral Parlors with Rev. W.T.Luckett in charge..⁹ He was buried in the Fairlawn Burial Park at Hutchinson, Reno County, Kansas. The pall bearers were from the IOOF Lodge in Hutchinson that he used to belong to..^9,4
