Minor Carter McKinley

     Minor Carter McKinley was born on 31 August 1866 in Lucas County, Iowa.1

In 1888, at the age of 22 Minor became affiliated with the Trinity Evangelical church and continued as a constant and faithful member, serving in the capacity of Sunday School Superintendent for several years. He was a faithful and true Odd Fellow, a member of the Russell Lodge 337 for 30 years, Past Grand, Past District Deputy Grand Master and Chaplain of the local Lodge for many, many years.1

Minor married Myrtia A. Pierce on 21 January 1891 They began their married life in Washington Township on a farm. Minor and Myrtia had two children:

          Doneta Ethel McKinley, born 1893, died 1937, buried Russell
          Cemetery**; and

          Thomas O. McKinley, born 1896, died 1959, buried Russell
          Cemetery**..1

Minor died from a blood clot near the heart after an operation for tumor of the bladder on 27 February 1936 at a hospital in Iowa City, Johnson County, Iowa, at age 69. Funeral services were held in his home, conducted by Rev. Homer McKinley, assisted by Rev. A. E. Beals.1 He was buried at Russell Cemetery**, Russell; He is buried in Section 3, Row 12, South Half Grave 3. Services at the cemetery were conducted by the I.O.O.F. Lodge 337 with several brothers from Chariton Lodge attending.1

     Myrtia A. Pierce was born on 15 July 1871 in Benton Township, Lucas County, Iowa. She was the daughter of John Pierce and Evadna Leburna Holmes..2

Myrtia married Minor Carter McKinley on 21 January 1891 They began their married life in Washington Township on a farm. Minor and Myrtia had two children:
