Mary (aka Polly) Jumper
F, b. 9 July 1788, d. 19 January 1884
Father | Daniel Jumper b. 21 Nov 1764, d. 16 Sep 1841 |
Mother | Mary Leach b. b May 1766, d. a 1850 |
Mary (aka Polly) Jumper was born on 9 July 1788 at Poland, Cumberland Co., Massachusetts, (now Androscoggin Co., ME).1,2
Mary was probablylisted (identified by age group) in the US Censuses of 1790, 1800, and 1810 in the household of her father, Daniel Jumper, at Cumberland Co., Maine.3
Mary probably appeared in the census of 1850 in the household of her brother Daniel Jumper in Harrison Twp., Maine. She was listed as Mary 2nd. Her identification in this census is somewhat uncertain since her reported age of 50 is substantially in error. However, no other plausible Mary Jumper has been found and the description of 2nd seems to reflect the name of her mother Mary Leach.4
Mary probably appeared in the census of 1860 in the household of Daniel Jumper in Harrison Twp., Maine. She was 70, born in Minot, Maine. Mary is most likely Daniel Jumper's sister but her age is slightly incorrect and she is listed as a widow which seems inconsistent with a surname of Jumper. Perhaps she was the wife of another Jumper (In 1880, a woman in Daniel's household was identified as Polly, his sister, and had the correct age).5
Mary appeared in the census of 1870 in the household of Daniel Jumper in Harrison, Harrison Twp., Maine. She was 80, born in Maine. As in 1860, it is not clear whether Mary was the sister of Daniel Jumper or the widow of another Jumper.6
Mary appeared in the census of 1880 in the household of her brother Daniel Jumper in Harrison Twp., Maine. She was 92, born in Maine.7
Mary died on 19 January 1884 in Bolsters Mills, Harrison Twp., Cumberland Co., Maine, at age 95. Name on gravestone given as Polly but age at death matches birthdate for Mary.8 She was buried in the in the Bolsters Mills Cemetery at Cumberland Co., Maine.9
