Lavina died on 26 September 1901 in Lucas County at age 65. There is something of a mystery here since the 1900 Census shows that Lavina's husband, William George McKinley, was living with a wife clearly identified as Ellen and born in Illinois. They had been married for 5 years. She had probably been married to a DeWolf since there was a step-daughter of that name living with them. However, Lavina was living with William 5 years before in the Iowa State Census and William George and Lavina are buried in a common grave in Row 4 N-S, Grave 7 in the Ragtown Cemetery in Lucas County..10,2

Both children are buried with their parents in Ragtown Cemetery, Benton Township, Lucas County, Iowa..5,2
Lavina appeared in the census of 1885 in the household of her husband William George McKinley at Washington Township, Lucas County, Iowa. She was 49, born in Ohio.6
After her marriage, Lavina appeared in the US Censuses of 1879 and 1880 and the Iowa State Census of 1895 in the household of her husband, William George McKinley, all in Lucas County, Iowa.7,8,9
