Harriet Kinsler

Father | Thomas Kinsler b. 16 Sep 1785, d. 28 Dec 1851 |
Mother | Patience Chadd b. 1786, d. 1840 |
Harriet was born about 1817 at Harrison County, Kentucky.1
Harriet married James Christy in February 1835 at Putnam County, Indiana.2
Harriet was listed in the household of James Christy (Sr.) in the 1840 Census in the 20-30 age group at Putnam County, Indiana. This event is uncertain. The 1840 Census lists a James Christy whose age group corresponds with the James Christy (Sr.) thought to be the father of Harriett's husband, John Christy (Jr.) The household contains a male in the right age group for James Christy (Jr.) and a female in the right age group for Harriet. No separate listing has been found for James Christy (Jr.) so it is assumed that he and Harriett were living with his father and mother at the time of the census..3
It appears that Harriet (and her husband James Christy) may have died sometime before 1850.4

- [S333] Assumption:, Date of birth was assumed from date of marriage. Place of birth from Patty Forbes' McKinley Family History. The genealogy of Harriet Kinsler is quite speculative. She is listed as a child of Thomas and Patience Kinsler in Patty Forbes' McKinley Family History. A license for a marriage between Harriet Kinsler and James Christy was issued in Putnam County, IN on 29 June 1837 and a man and woman in the right age group are listed in the household of an older James Christy in Greencastle Twp, Putnam County in 1840. However, neither the younger James Christy nor Harriet have been found in the 1850 Census and neither Harriet nor James was listed as a heir of Thomas Kinsler in 1853. Pending further information, it is assumed that Harriet was the daughter of Thomas and Patience and that both she and her husband, James Christy, died before 1850.

James Christy
M, b. 1815?, d. before 1850
It seems likely that James Christy's father was James Christy (Sr.) born on 23 May 1784 and died on 31 August 1862, whose grave is in Mt Carmel Cemetery, Putnam Co., Indiana. The wife of the older James Christy, also buried in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, was named Elizabeth. She was born 11 August 1804 and died 23 April 1847. Both the older James Christy and Elizabeth appear in the 1840 Census, Putnam County, Greencastle Twp.
