Sarah [--?--] Tinkham

F, b. 1665?, d. after 10 April 1759
Sarah [--?--] Tinkham was born in 1665?.1

Sarah married John Tinkham before 1720. John was about 57 when his first child, John Jr., was born. Although this was unusual, a thorough search of Bristol County deeds shows that it must have been the case. There are many John Tinkham deeds and none call him Jr. or Sr., leading to the conclusion that there was only one John Tinkham. A deed on 7 March 1714/15 clearly proves that John was alive on that date.

A 1921 manuscript by Horace W. Tinkham says that John first married a Hannah and that she died in Dartmouth 6 Oct 1694. It also lists a son Seth who died in 1725. No documentation has been found to support these statements..2 On on 15 October 1757, Sarah Tinkham of Dartmouth, widow and relict of John Tinkham late of Dartmouth, sued her daughter Martha Ellis and her husband Joseph Ellis of Dartmouth, cordwainer, for payment due on the estate.3 On on 9 May 1758, Sarah Tinkcom, mother of Martha Ellis, quitclaimed her rights to land. This was acknowledged on 10 April 1759.3 She died after 10 April 1759 at Dartmouth, Bristol County, Massachusetts. She signed a quit-claim to her land rights on this date..4
