Mary D. Hattabaugh
F, b. after 1850, d. before 1908
Father | Isaac Hattabaugh b. 11 Apr 1813, d. 29 Mar 1867 |
Mother | Lovenia Bailey b. c 1833, d. a 1908 |
Mary is known only from a reference in Bio Memoirs of Greene Co.
Mary was born after 1850.1 James, Mary, Ulysses and Isaac was listed as a household member living with Lovenia Bailey on the 1870 Census at Cass Township, Greene Co., Indiana. Other individuals included in this household were one step-son; Isaac L., farmer age 24, born in IN; and two of Lavonia's and Isaac's children; Mary D., age 8; and Ilysses G, age 6, both born in IN.
Also listed in the household are a James B., age 14 born in Ohio with $1600 real estate; and Eva J., age 12 born in IN, whose last names are not specified. James B. cannot be the son of Isaac and Sarah Ball shown in the 1850 Census unless the 1870 Census is wrong on both his age and place of birth. It seems likely that James B. and Eva are both children of Lovenia's from a previous marriage. This is born out by the 1880 Census in which Eva is listed as Eva Bailey and indicates that Lovenia probably moved from Ohio to Indiana between 1856 (James' birthdate) and 1858 (Eva's birthdate)..2 Mary was listed as a daughter in Lovenia Bailey's household on the 1880 Census at Cass Township, Greene Co., Indiana. Other individuals included in this household were a daughter, Mary D. Hattabaugh, age 18 in school, and Ulysses G. Hattabaugh, laborer age 15. Both Mary and Ulysses were born in IN; their father (Isaac) was born in SC; and their mother (Lovenia) was born in OH.
Also included in the household were Albert Hathaway, a farm hand age 22, and Eva Bailey, shown as a daughter age 22. Both of Eva's parents were born in OH, indicating that she was a child of a previous marriage of Lovenia..3
Mary died before 1908.4

Other individuals included in this household were one step-son; Isaac L., farmer age 24, born in IN; and two of Lavonia's and Isaac's children; Mary D., age 8; and Ilysses G, age 6, both born in IN.

James B. cannot be the son of Isaac and Sarah Ball shown in the 1850 Census unless the 1870 Census is wrong on both his age and place of birth. It seems likely that James B. and Eva are both children of Lovenia's from a previous marriage. This is born out by the 1880 Census in which Eva is listed as Eva Bailey and indicates that Lovenia probably moved from Ohio to Indiana between 1856 (James' birthdate) and 1858 (Eva's birthdate)..3
