     Andrew is probably listed (by age group) in the 1840 Census (Isaac Hattabaugh Household). He is listed by name in the 1850 Census, age 11 and in the 1860 Census, farm laborer age 21 (both in Isaac Hattabaugh household).
Per Bio Memoirs of Greene County, p.412, Andrew was educated in the old subscription schools, taught in log houses with seats hewn from logs and greased paper for window panes.
Andrew enlisted in the Union Army in June 1861 and served nearly a year and a half in Company D, 14th Indiana Volunteer Infantry. He then transferred to the Sixth US Cavalry for the rest of his service. He served in the Army of the Potomoc in the battles of Cheat Mountain, Winchester, Antietam, and Gettysburg. He was taken prisoner at Gettysburg and held at Belle Isle for six months before he was exchanged and sent to a parole camp at Annapolis. Md. until his enlistment expired.
Andrew went to California in 1872 where he remained for ten years. He worked on a farm there and did other work, but always wanted to return home. When he returned, he resumed work on a farm until 1905 when he retired and moved to Newberry, Indiana.
Andrew was a witness to a will in Greene Co. in 1892.

     Daniel Pugh was born on 16 February 1809 in Glasgow, Scotland. Daniel's father was Francis Pugh; his mother was Sophia Parker. Per Gloria Shocklin, Daniel Pugh's father was English and his name was originally Van Pugh; Sophia Parker was Scottish. Daniel & Sophia's children were William, Joseph, Isaac (d. Lebanon, MO), Henry (d. Hutchinson, KS), Mollie Pugh Bailey, and Maggie (died as a baby)..^1,2
