Susanna Parsons
F, b. 3 May 1748, d. 1 March 1811
Susanna Parsons was born on 3 May 1748 at Gloucester, Essex Co., Massachusetts. She was the daughter of Jonathan and Susannah (Milbury) Jumper.1
Susanna married William Jumper on 19 December 1765 at Gloucester..2
While her husband, William JUMPER, along with at least 60 patriot volunteers departed on the 5-day march to fight the Battle of Bunker Hill, the wives and families of the soldiers were left in impoverished conditions. Susannah Parsons JUMPER (left alone with five children to feed) led a band of 20 housewives, who, with axes in hand, stormed the local supply storehouse. 'Such action as this, it was recorded, for these women of strict conscience required an immediate accounting. In place of the food, the honest women left an itemized list of all the supplies they had taken. 'They trudged home with armloads of food for their hungry families.3
